【Project Overview】 Phase 1 of Yangshan Deep Water Port consisted of the construction of port areas, bridges, support areas of Luchao port, and customs inspection area, etc. After Phase 1 was completed, this port would handle up to 2.2 million standard containers a year, with five deep water berths of 1,600m long and 15.5m deep (for the fifth and sixth generations of container ships to berth). The port front was equipped with 15 on-shore loading and unloading bridges for containers; the stack yard used container gantry cranes, on the port covering 870,000m² with a capacity of 900,00 standard containers. Shanghai Darun Port Construction Group Co., Ltd. performed the dredging works in the front of the port. The dredging area was 60m wide, 800m long and 15m deep, with a total construction quantity of 0.3 million m³. Such work would lay a solid foundation for the following construction.
